I've had this adapter for a few days, and if it lasts a year, it will prove a great purchase. I think it will. The only problem I encountered is that it recognizes networks but could not acquire a network address automatically and had to be manually assigned (on different networks using different ISPs and gateways as well). It may just have been an issue with the networks but the incidents were limited to this unit.
On a wireless N connection w/ MAC filtering, at ~10ft (from router/gateway) I would get 4/5 signal bars, ~15mbps on speedtests and actual download speeds peaking north of 2mbps on a 20mbps advertised connection.(For dirt cheap wireless in a residential situation, this was fantastic; for example, downloading a 700mb video takes ~6min at this rate) Of course, your connection will vary, and thus the expectations. On a 3mbps advertised connection, at ~20ft on a wireless G w/ WEP, 3/5 signal bars and getting actual download speeds peaking ~300kb/s (again, great--getting full advertised rate on speedtests)
I do not know the max. signal range of the adapter, but, unless you live in a mega-mansion or insist on avoiding civilization, it should be sufficient. (It could still work, I just don't know... yet) Your experiences may vary but I haven't encountered any other issues, such as overheating, etc. It seems to be a well made product and is easily worth how little it costs in comparison to some of the more recognizable brands and their respective models. I wanted the cheapest wireless N solution when I bought this but so far the only thing economy about this adapter is the price. I would strongly recommend it.
