I decided to go with this cool looking black orb because it's the only "made for ipod" speaker dock that doesn't look like a ipod speaker dock. When you first remove it from the box it's a surprisingly heavy globe with a glossy top. It has a cover over the ipod dock but comes with all kinds of covers to match whatever ipod you have, again I know nothing about that area of use. I use my Sansa View with the speaker and it sounds awesome. I have it placed in a large family room/kitchen area and the sound fills the room great. love the fact you can control the bass and treble. However, you can't control those options on the base itself only through the remote.
Now, I'm sure there are plenty of better speakers out there but I would say for this price range it's pretty up there with sound quality. Looks alone I would give this product a 10. It truly has a great `cool factor' The remote is thin but larger than most I've seen. Of course, the remote functions are limited to volume controls, power, bass & treble(when using a different audio device then ipod)
It's not exactly portable as it needs power but it seems relatively easy to move from one location to the next. I've been looking for a cool speaker system for a month now and after many returns this is the one for me.
